🛢️ Electrical & machinery
- Fridges & freezers (contain refrigerants)
- Air conditioning units
- Large electrical appliances (often restricted or need special handling)
🚗 Automotive waste
- Tyres
- Car batteries
- Engine parts with oil
🧪 Medical / biological waste
- Clinical waste (needles, medicines)
- Plasterboard (sometimes allowed in limited amounts, but often separated)
🌍 Other restricted materials
- Mattresses (extra charge £30)
📏 Skip sizes
- 8 Yard: Ideal for house, garden projects and loft conversions. Skip suitable for general waste, brick, soil, rubble and hardcore.
- 12 Yard: For commercial use and large projects. Skip suitable for bulk large, light and bulky items.
❗Pick the right size
🧱 For heavy waste (brick, soil, rubble, hardcore): 8-yard skips only. Anything larger may be too heavy to lift when full.
⚖️ Loading rules
Skips must be level loaded only and must not be overloaded.
📝 Permits
No permit is needed for skips on private land.
A road permit is required if the skip is placed on a public road.

🚧 A standard skip lorry requires at least 10 ft (3.3 metres) of width for access - regardless of the skip size.
